I wrote a series of essays called Angel Inspirations which includes some on the individual Archangels. At some stage they may become a book - here are the first few pages...
ANGEL INSPIRATIONS
Angels have been coming more clearly into human consciousness during recent years. Books and merchandise are in every store; angel courses and classes abound. At a seminar I attended, Caroline Myss recalled being asked to teach a session on angels. “Oh great!” she thought, “I can tell them anything!”
Nothing can be proved about angels, therefore the scientifically oriented individual and the sceptic will only ever be persuaded of the possibility of their existence by some profound personal experience. Even then they may deny it. We can research angel information in books and on the internet, may accept some of it and feel in our hearts if the information is true for us, but that isn’t proof.
Whilst many people trust their ‘inner knowing’ far more readily than they trust any scientifically devised test, the majority are still in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” category and will only be persuaded by so-called experts and authorities. Generally, people are uncomfortable with the thought that beings exist whom they cannot perceive. They prefer to deny the possibility and through fear may attack or ridicule those who do perceive them.
Fortunately it doesn’t matter whether one believes that angels exist or not to benefit from angelic energy. If someone cannot accept the existence of angels as sentient beings they may be able to accept the idea of working with angels at an energetic level; that is, working with the generally accepted meaning, symbolism and energy assigned to them rather than working with angels as individualised beings.
For example, if the meaning attributed to Archangel Gabriel is of a messenger, one can work with the energy of what being a messenger means. Archangel Michael’s purpose is widely accepted to be as a protector and spiritual warrior. It is possible to work with the energy of protection and the attributes required of a spiritual warrior without believing in the existence of Michael as a sentient being. Angels and advanced spirit guides are devoid of ego. Their main requirement is that the job gets done and they are happy to relinquish any credit for the work.
Many people work unconsciously with spirit: artists, authors, songwriters, nurses, doctors and so on. They may think they are achieving by themselves, but anyone who works with a positive passion for their calling will receive help from the spirit realms. Whilst they may not consciously connect their inspiration or intuition with spiritual guidance, the job gets done just the same.
Some people recognise that they are helped, but keep it to themselves for fear of ridicule and of being discredited by their peers, while others are becoming more openly accepting and clear about where their guidance comes from and are prepared to disclose their ‘sources’. As they do so, the more those with less courage will also be able to share their experiences of being guided and gradually what was once thought ‘crazy’ will be seen for the precious gift it truly is.
In Angel Inspirations each passage is followed by a guided visualisation. I taught this class to help unlock people’s writing and communicating ability and let the inspiration flow. My only research was surfing the web to verify the most commonly ascribed meaning for each

GUARDIAN ANGELS
I’ve always loved the idea that we each have a special being of light assigned to us throughout our lives, whose job is to love and watch over us. During the past few years I’ve reached the conclusion that this is the truth, not just a delightful notion, and personal experience reinforces my belief, but sometimes with all that goes on in the world I can’t help thinking, “if this is so, how come such terrible things happen?” Then I realise that these are our lessons to learn.
Many, probably most, of the terrible things that happen while we are on this earth journey are as a result of the gift of free will with which humanity has been bestowed. I know that unless special circumstances permit divine intervention to occur, free will cannot be contravened. The angels do what they can for us as far as the situation allows and only with our permission.
Perhaps over eons of time the degree of physical density reached on the earth plane has exceeded that which was envisaged when our world was created. A pall of negativity hangs over Earth and obscures a great deal of the lighter energies so that often our loving guardians can see us but they can’t reach us. This is why we have ‘lost souls’, both living and passed from Earth life. They are lost in the density of physical matter and their own negative thought forms.
It seems unfair that people are put here on Earth in this ‘not knowing’ state. I think, “How are we supposed to know what we don’t know?” But then I have come to realize that often we do know what we think we don’t know… Sometimes as I am writing thoughts and information ‘come through’ giving new insights and ways to think. There are times when I ‘just know’ something or that I have to do something or go somewhere; that’s when I get an inkling of understanding about the meaning of the phrase, “everything is within”.
We each have ‘in-tuition’ (Quite literally, an inner teacher. Some term this as the higher self) and also our Guardian Angel, a protective and loving energy, watching over us. Most of us cannot see and hear our guides and angels except in subtle ways that are easy for the unaware to ignore or miss. However, this does not mean they are not there, sending us love, care and good wishes.
We have to be open to receiving that love; we have to clear away the debris of our misperceptions to feel both their love and their approval – yes, approval! Isn’t it wonderful to know that there is a divine being assigned to you alone who totally loves and approves of you regardless of your deeds or misdeeds? The angels are a little bit of God’s light, just as you are, minus the negativity and density of the physical being.
Like attracts like and the clearer you are of negativity, the more your own light can connect with your angel’s light; that’s why clearing blockages is so important. What are blockages? They are emotional, mental and spiritual ‘silt’ built up from events experienced and attitudes acquired throughout life. There are many books and tools to help in doing this clearing work. In 2002 I was recommended the book The Power of Now by Eckhardt Tolle. I have recommended it to many people, but it was as I was reading it I realised that I have already been doing the work, without knowing it.
A few weeks before reading The Power of Now an affirmation came into my mind that nicely encapsulates the principle of ‘living in the now’. Just for today I will accept the people in my life with no reference to the past and no expectation of the future. This is further encapsulated in a short phrase – be here now. Be fully present in each and every moment. Apart from being the best way to live being present, not being absorbed in thoughts of the past or the future, is also when we have more success in connecting with the angels.
When we are in this current moment, we are in stillness. I reread my first inspired writings from 1996/97 and realized they nearly all mention the importance of being in the now. I was being shown this principle even then but at that stage it didn’t truly register. I wasn’t ready to understand quite what it meant at that point in time.
Living in the present does not mean that we shouldn’t attempt to process our past or even revisit it now and again if it is constructive to do so. What it means is that we should not dwell in the past if we want to be happy in the present. Musing on the past isn’t always painful, it can often be pleasant – but living in it is a mistake, for then you lose the present moment.
It has been said that life is a series of moments. It is what we do with each of those moments, and the decisions made in those moments, that really matters. Why it matters is that we are creating in each and every moment. If we are not careful with our thoughts we can unconsciously manifest what we don’t want. To consciously manifest we need to be clear, present and precise. If we are cluttered by the past, or by future tripping, “one day, some day, maybe, never”, then we never get to the point where the true power lies – in the present; and it is in that clear and present space that we can connect with our angels.
If you want to connect with your guidance, several things can help. The first is to operate from a loving heart, emanating genuine, benevolent, loving feelings in generalised form. This is unconditional love for the beauty of creation, the feeling you may touch upon when gazing at a sunset or a newborn child; awe and wonder. Let go, for that while, all thoughts of individuals or circumstances that contravene what love is. If these thoughts come into your mind, accept them with love and compassion and let them go.
Take time to sit in stillness. Early morning hours are good if you can organise yourself to tune in at that time, for then the connection is more easily made. This happens for two reasons. First, you are rested but still receptive, before thoughts of the day and mundane tasks intervene and fill your mind. Secondly, the atmospheric conditions are more conducive to connection. This is because there is more stillness in the world at this time, with less physical and electrical activity.
It is at the start of the day that angelic presences are most active for at that time contact is easier and more fruitful and communication flows more easily. People lose the best part of the day for meditating, communing and reflecting when they choose to turn over and go back to sleep. It is a beautiful thing to get up with the birds, as the world is waking up.
Once your communication channels are open and you are receptive, interaction with your angels can take place anytime, anywhere, yet still those quiet hours are amongst the best. If you are a late riser and stay up until the early hours, the last few hours in the quiet of the night may be your best time to connect. Those who wake early are rested, receptive and have not yet filled their minds with the day’s clutter, while ‘night owls’ often release the thoughts that generally fill their mind once they ‘hit the wall’ of tiredness. In that fatigued, ‘mindless’ state (which is not absence of mind, but absence of thought) the connection can be achieved equally well. In both states it is the absence of thoughts that creates the space for the information or words of comfort to be transmitted.
There are other times of heightened receptivity to be aware of. Some people get inspiration when in the bath or shower, as not only is water conducive to contact, but one is a relaxed state of being. Also, during or after vigorous exercise when one can feel both tired but uplifted is a good time for receiving inspired thoughts. Walking is another excellent activity for gaining connection and clarity, for it is a ‘grounding’ activity and enables insight to flow if one stills the mind chatter long enough to receive.
As you become more comfortable with the NOW concept (and there is No Other Way if you want peace, contentment, serenity and freedom from pervasive, unwanted thoughts) then contact becomes a more constant option, any time of day, at your behest. True angelic or spiritual guidance is not intrusive; it is respectful. Only if there is something of importance to impart will there be persistence in trying to gain your attention.
Your own way of thinking and being will become more aligned to that of your guidance as you work with the energy by walking the path of Love, Light and Truth. You may find that you are using more of the subtle influence of your connection in everyday interactions. You may not always be aware of it, but others may be. People will be intuitively drawn to you to ask advice, to talk with you or just to enjoy being in your presence. By working with spiritual energy, you become part of it; it is expressed through you and felt by others. In relaxing and letting things happen instead of trying to control every situation, you become available for miracles to occur.
There are many books, tapes and programs about angelic intervention happening at times of crisis, but it is possible to connect with your angels without waiting for a crisis to happen! You have to express the wish and intention.
Here is a message from the angels: EVERY SINGLE PERSON CAN MAKE CONTACT WITH THE ANGELS. The only things that can block them from this process are their own doubts and scepticism. We, the guides and angels, can overcome nearly every barrier – but we have to wait until we are invited in. Until that time we have to stand and watch and care and wait. We are God’s agents, we are a part of God as are you, and we are a part of each other. Although angels are part of a different evolutionary stream, we are connected with you. The connecting force is that of love and light. WE WAIT TO WORK WITH YOU ALL.
